If someone has suffered a great deal, or is “broken,” “authentic,” or “raw”–BUT is also in error regarding their beliefs, teachings, and the solution to their suffering–he or she often receives “immunity” or a pass when it comes to being challenged or confronted on their false beliefs or teachings. It is nearly impossible, especially in today’s environment, to challenge the error.
Why is this? Mainly because anything you say will almost always be attacked or minimized. Most likely, you will also be falsely accused of being a “Pharisee,” a “Hater,” or the reason others don’t know Jesus or His love. (This is often done by Enablers of Sin and Error.)
As addressed in the article linked below, more often than not, leaders wait for others to address the error. When no one does (out of fear of attacks, or of being perceived to be insensitive, unloving, etc.), the error/false teaching becomes accepted as if it were true. This, then, leads to even more harm, error, deception, and destruction–particularly for the person suffering so much to begin with.
The most loving thing we can do is to lovingly and accurately warn of error, sin, and false teaching–all of which cause great destruction and lead to death.
My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins. –James 5:19-20
Grievously, this love is often condemned, shamed, and labeled hate.
